Oman-Phase II Manah Power plant - grid impact study (1999-2000)



The aim of this study was to perform the grid/plant interface studies related to the connection of the Phase II MANAH Power Plant project. This required the setup of a model to study the steady state and transient operations of the Oman power system. An important part of the study was related to the interconnection of the Oman system concomitant to the power plant entry into service.

The steady state study covered the load flow, short-circuit and contingency analysis. The dynamic investigations included the small signal, transient and voltage parts of the dynamic stability.

Conclusions concerned protection, defence plan and power system stabiliser settings together with reactive power compensation schemes and operational constraints related to total transfer capacities between the interconnected parts of the system.
