Protection Schemes

Standard or User-defined automatons 

In EUROSTAG®, Protection schemes are based on a generic concept of automaton using three basic notions : measurements,protection logic and triggered events.


A standard library of automatic devices exists for network as well as for machine protections including:

 

  • Loss of synchronism relay
  • Overcurrent protection relay
  • Frequency load shedding
  • Instability or stability detection
  • Automatic generation control
  • Generalized protection relay
  • DFIG stator protection

The program also offers the possibility to design user-defined automatons. In this case, the three basic notions (measurement, logic, event) are fully defined by the user, allowing the modeling of SPS and WAMPAC systems:

 

  • Measurements and system variables  are gathered as inputs;
  • A logic is assigned to any of the electrical equipment (lines, machines, transformers, loads…) through macroblocks with behaviour defined by the input process signals. Macroblocks output signals are monitored by the automaton.
  • The automaton actions are then defined according to the large set of events, thresholds and delays to be considered.

 

In this way, it is possible to define complex protections schemes based on different logics as well as complex system controllers.
