Load flow computation

The starting point of any power system study 

A Load-Flow computation is used to evaluate the steady-state of the network: voltage profile, flows and losses in branches, balance between generation and load, etc... 

 

The Load-Flow included in SMART FLOW uses a powerful Newton-Raphson computation method and can be started from the GUI (Graphical User Interface) or from the Network Editor. An optional three-phase fault short-circuit computation at each node can be activated.

 

Load Flow results can be  visualized on the Network Editor allowing an easy understanding of the results.

Several types of result can be displayed on the scheme:

  • active and/or reactive flow on branches,
  • voltage at node,
  • three-phase short-circuit power at node, etc.

 

Results are also provided in an output listing file, giving as well detailed results (voltage at each node, flows, etc …) as global summaries (balance per region, area interchange fluxes, etc…). List of problems such as nodes undervoltages or branches overloads are reported.
 

This tool is available for both AC and DC calculations.
